Blog 14: Third interview preparation

1.  Who do you plan to interview?  What is this person's area of expertise?
-I plan to interview a professional photographer that works for a high scale company in north Hollywood.
2.  Verify that you have called your interviewee to schedule an interview.  What is the date and time of the interview? 
-I left a message and will be contacted as soon as he has an availability date and time.
3.  Phrase an open-ended question that will help you find research resources that would help to answer the EQ.
- How can a photographer for fashion create an interesting photoshoot to help draw in consumers? My EQ:How can a graphic designer have a successful marketing campaign?
4.  Phrase an open-ended question that will help you think about other useful activities you might do to help you answer the EQ (IC2, possible experts to talk to, etc).
-what are some possible ways that I can briefly teach a class on apparel marketing?
5.  Phrase two open-ended questions that help you to understand your interviewee's perspective on an aspect of your EQ. 
-What materials would it take of this we're a possibility on the table? What aspect would it help them understand from apparel marketing? 

Blog 5 - Interview 1 Reflection

1. What is the most important thing I learned from the interview?  Is there anything I would do differently for other interviews?

• I would most definitely ask a lot more questions about what i can do to further my knowledge and experience in the industry. This will allow me to out myself out there within companies.

2. Did I get additional resources and contacts?  What is the most useful?  Why?

• Yes, after my interview i talked with my mentor regarding who else i can talk to. He referred me to his fellow co-worker. He also sent me various resources i can use and read to have a bit more understanding. 

3. What makes my interviewee qualified to help me? 

• my mentor knows how to do almost all positions from designer to accounting in this industry. He worked his way up and since then he has always had a passion for creative designing. 

Blog 3 First Interview Preparation

1. Who do you plan to interview? Why?

• I plan to interview my mentor, Daniel Nakama and a FIDM alumni. I would be interviewing my mentor for the film part of marketing and a FIDM alumni for apparel marketing. They would each help me to understand the process and basic elements to marketing in each field of work.  

2. Five questions will be assigned to all seniors to ask. What additional questions do you plan to ask? Ask open-ended questions. What are open-ended questions?

• What weaknesses have you overcome when accomplishing difficult tasks?
  
• Describe your typical workday.
• How do you determine your priorities?
• Tell me about a time when you organized a project where your directions were vague?
• What experiences led you to choose your career path?
• What experience do you hope to gain from this position?
• Given a situation when you disagree with your supervisor, how would you deal with it?
• What challenges are you looking for in a job?
• What is the most difficult task you have undertaken?
• What about your job gets you out of bed in the morning?
• How important are promotions and advancement to you?
• What is important to you in a job?
• When you are under a lot of stress, what is your typical reaction? 
• Have you ever made an error in judgment that you had yo address with your employer? How did you handle it?
• What motivates you to be successful in your job?
